Yes, it hurts. Yes, it feels heavy. And no, that feeling is not something to argue yourself out of on day one.

How to evaluate your certified copy properly
Do this carefully rather than quickly:
- Download the certified copy PDF from the ICAI portal.
- Rename the file to your email ID — for example,
yourname@gmail.com.pdf. - Create a Word file listing your marks question by question — MCQ marks separately, and descriptive marks against each part: 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3C and so on.
- Save that Word file under your email ID too.
- Now look at the pattern before you look at the total. Where did you lose in blocks? Where did you lose a mark or two everywhere?
Scattered small losses across every answer are almost always a presentation and structure problem. Large losses on specific questions are a coverage problem. Losses concentrated at the end of the paper are a speed problem. Three different diseases, three different medicines.
