Assurance Engagement will be as Defined in “Framework to Assurance Engagements”

Below are requirements for assurance engagements.

So as per that GST Audit & Internal Audit are covered in Scope of Peer Review.

Elements of Assurance Engagements
The following elements of an assurance engagement are discussed in this section:

(a) A three party relationship involving a practitioner, a responsible party, and intended users;

(Responsible party & users can be within same organisation, for example in internal audit BOD / AC will be user and CEO / CFO / Accounts Department can be responsible party. Responsible party has immediate responsibility of subject matter we are checking and users are those who are going to evaluate these reports)

(b) An appropriate subject matter; (Financial Statements / Internal Control Systems etc)

(c) Suitable criteria; (Standards)

(d) Sufficient appropriate evidence; and

(e) A written assurance report in the form appropriate to a reasonable assurance engagement or a limited assurance engagement.
