Sir can you explain the reason why no of sampling units in a population doesn’t affect sample size?

suppose we are doing sampling to check wages
and there is population of 5000 labours x 12 months wages = 60,000 wage slips
now this population is big it will cover all variety whether is unskilled, semi skilled, skilled or say new joiners, terminations etc so we can select 500 slips which represent whole variety and conclude about 60,000 now even if number of slips increase to 1,00,000 we can still select 500 and project about 1,00,000, as all variety is covered
